Hi,
I have a black spotted bitch and as a rule I have always been told not to wear black or white.
White because it can make yuor dog look dirty if your suiter is whiter than they are and also with black I have been told it makes it takes away from the spots.
Having said that a lot of people woth black dogs will wear black trousers with a brightly coloured jacket so I dont think there are any hard and fast rules.
I currently wear grey however am looking for a new suit as have worn the same one for over a year and am bored of it.
New puppy new suit... thats my excuse |

A clever handler will choose a colour which will make the dog stand out against the background of the handlers clothes. There are certain shades of blue, red and purple that make the white appear whiter to the eye.
As long as the colour is not too bright to actually be distracting to the judge's eye!!
Liver dogs look very good with green or blue, as long as it's not too bright.
You need a suit that will allow you to move and run freely, including bending down to your dog and not revealing everything! (may involve some extraordinary sights in the changing rooms as you test different positions!!)
It should look smart but not over the top. You don't want anything that hangs down or flaps, distracting either the dog or the judge. Most of all, make sure it is made of a material that is easy to wash and that the minimum amount of hairs stick to it!
Trousers or a skirt for a suit are entirely a personal preference. Shoes should be smart but flat enough to run in comfortably and also easy to clean!
Choosing a suit should be all about making the most of your dog, rather than yourself and to be smart and practical.
Have fun shopping!! _________________ Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but I'd rather have a DALMATIAN!!!

Did you say Luton was your 1st show?
I have looked at the schedule for Luton and there is no Dalmatian class so you would be looking at either Any Variety Utility or/and AVNSC (any variety not seperatley classed). Then either Post Grad or Open.
Any schedule you look at whether it be for an open or champ show, will have a breakdown of the different classes and what the criteria is i.e. age limits etc |
