North of England Dalmatian Club Open 2010 Judged by Dolores Precious
I had the best day judging what I considered a really fine entry, full of quality with some promising youngsters. However what did strike me was how many of the dogs in the older classes had remarkably soft pads, this is due to lack of roadwork and of course in turn, leads to lack of correct muscle. Ours is a breed that should be “capable of great endurance”, for this part of the standard to be met they need plenty of steady roadwork to build up these attributes.
What fantastically proficient and professional stewards I had to assist me and I thank them for their hard work.
Thanks must go to the officers and committee for their hard work and dedication in making the show a success for exhibitors and especially my stewards and myself.
Lastly thank you to the exhibitors for your lovely entry and the cheery acceptance of my decisions which in some classes were difficult as there were so many lovely dogs to choose from.

CLASS 1 VETERAN DOG 3 ENTRIES 2 ABS

A really lovely class full of promising babies.
1ST Scott's Dalendale Sinaola. What a lovely black puppy so steady for his age good decoration and excellent pigmentation. Super skull shape and dark eye, with a good front developing. Level back and tail. Back angulation was impressive for a baby. Tightest of feet. I think this puppy should have a bright future. BPIS.

Another lovely black baby not as settled as 1 today but will get there with time. Deep pigment slightly longer in the leg than 1 but still a good size. Dark eyes and good head. Level back and correct tailset.

1ST Dodds and Pearson's Kelevra Hudson Hawk.
Another black with a good shaped head and flat skull. Level back and pleasing front and rear assembly. Plenty of heart and lung room. Carried his tail a little high but his movement was faultless straight and true out and back.
2ND. Talbot's Winflash Willie Do It at Leaveslake. Black with fabulously spotty face and dark eyes. Good front. Level topline and Strong quarters. Stood and showed well but felt he needed to settle when moving.

CLASS 8 POST GRADUATE DOG 2 ENTRIES 1 ABS

1ST Croft's Doubtwell the Show Stopper
This black is of excellent size and depth of pigment, masculine without coarseness. Darkest of eyes and good length of neck into perfect front assembly and level back and good deep brisket. Tail set and carried just how the standard describes. Strong in the loin and in the second thigh with a superb bend of stifle. But it is when he move that he really shines, commanding the ring with power that could last all day. BD. RBIS.
2ND Story Taylor's Major Tornado at Kesteven.
Another black boy displaying correct size and good decoration. Perhaps not the bone of 1 but not in anyway underdone. Good head shape holding dark eye and a good long neck. Excellent front and standing on good feet. Lost his topline a little on the move today. Good quarters and moved with drive.

CLASS 9 LIMIT DOG 10 ENTRIES

1ST Burrows Daedalus Deacon Blue at Shacarlu.
Black boy with the darkest eyes and a well defined stop and good neck. Well angulated front assembly and the deepest of chests. Level topline wich he maintained throughout. Stood on the tightest of feet. Good pigmentation and the best of tight coats. Strong rear quarters and second thigh which is why his movement shone through.
2ND Adderley's Liehart Chicago Bear. Longer in the leg than 1 and longer coupled but another lovely black. Pleasing head shape into lovely long neck and attractive decoration on the body. Fair topline and strong bone and standing on catlike feet. Moved well enough but felt he lacked the sparkle and energy of previous shows.
3rd Polhill's Fincham Hurricane Jack of Kymvale.

A liver of lovely proportions who I had judged as a baby and still pleased me today. Nicely marked and a good liver colour. Fair head into excellent front with deep chest and standing on nice feet. Straight back with good loin and strong second thigh. Lovely tail set and carriage and he moved out well today displaying drive and balance. 1ST Page's Ch Winter Magic.
This lovely black shows no sign of ageing and still moves as effortlessly as she did when I judged her before she gained her title. She has still got a super outline and her size is perfect. Lovely head with the darkest of eyes Her topline is straight and her tail carriage ideal. Absolutly flowed round the ring in this class. Very close for BV.
2ND Richardson's Dalmark Moon Europa. Larger type than 1 but this black girl was having a lovely day out and showed to perfection. Attactive decoration good head long neck and good front. Deep chest and good length of loin. Tightest feet still and moved beautifully.
3RD Sheldon's Gemmont Mystical Magic

CLASS 12 MINOR PUPPY BITCH 10 ENTRIES 4 ABS

I found this class one of the hardest as the exhibits were all of such quality and promise.
1ST Kembry's Dalmark the Flamenco. This lovely liver baby had all the quality one would expect from this kennel. A compact shape with the signs of a promising dog with a super skull and length of neck. Level back and sound movement carried her tail properly and of course a fabulous temperament with no shyness. Really clean lines on this puppy and standing on the tightest feet.
2ND Chance and Dodds' Dvojica Vivid Vocation. Another super baby who is going to have a starry future. Fabulous head and neck into an already well assembled front. Really good bone but not over done and tight feet even at this tender age. Quarters developing nicely and she will be one to watch.
3RD Addy's Creaganbrec Evie Rose.

2ND Wright's Boutonneux Artemis of Millebelle liver of similar size to 1 but sadly not in best of coat today. Her head and expression were delightful and she has the straightest of toplines. Fabulous front and rear angulation. Carried her tail well and she has just the right amount of bone. Moved out and round well enough but needed to settle a bit however this one will have a good future.

Black spotted with lovely feminine head and expression. Long neck and standing on tight feet. Brisket dropping well and held her topline on the move. A little unsettled when moving however.
2ND Gibbs' Phadante Dixie Lily I like the size of this black girl and she still has some growing to do. But with good decoration and pigment she will make it. A good head and neck into level back and developing quarters. Fabulous feet and steady on the move for a youngster.
3RD Richardson's Buffrey mercury Rising among Mapplewell.

CLASS 18 POST GRADUATE BITCH 6 ENTRIES 1 ABS

1ST Page's Winflash the Final Magic
Black spotting in fine patterning and of good size for a bitch. Feminine but with bone. Long neck into straight back and good loin and correct tail. Sadly not in the best of coats today but she won on movement as she powered round the ring from her strong quarters and excellent stifle.
2ND Cheetham's Koroyza Cute as candy for Dollywood. Something caught my eye when she came in the ring she does stand out and she is a totally different type to 1 but she had the sound movement that I look for although unsettled at times. Well broken ears on a good head. Super front fairly long cast but still balanced. Level back and tightest of feet.
3rd Dinsdale's Koroyza Candy Floss at Dalesbred.

CLASS 19 LIMIT BITCH. 15 ENTRIES 5 ABS

1ST Cooper's Caldecacre Couronne Under Charmindals.

2ND Kembrey's Dalmark the Super Sleuth.
A liver and another who stands out from the crowd with a fine outline of a balanced dog. Flat skull and long neck into a fabulous front and plenty of heart and lung space. Pleasing length for a bitch with the rear assembly strong and powerful enough to do the job.
3RD Pilgrim's Olbero One to Remember at Weaponess.

CLASS 20 OPEN BITCH 11 ENTRIES 2 ABS

1ST Polhill's Kymvale Savannah.
What a delightful girl to go over, lovely size , a real old fashioned type of dog. Nice flat skull holding dark eye. Her front and rear angulation is just what I would look for and her tail set and carriage fits the standard. Nice decoration with strong black on pure white. Good round bone spring to the pasterns and delightful feet. But when this bitch moves the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, she is so sound and balanced and when she is moved at a steadier pace you can see how powerfully she drives from her hips and stifle. She did not put a foot wrong and is truly built for her purpose. I am sure she will gain her title very soon. I had no hesitation in awarding her BB and BIS.
2ND Haywood Ridgways' Luccombe Hazel Nut Cluster.
A super liver girl who was unlucky to meet 1 today as this is another bitch with sound and true movement. Lighter build than 1 but a good size and lovely spotting. Feminine head and expression into long neck. Level topline with correct length of loin for a bitch. A good front with a deep brisket. Fabulous strength behind the loin and good second thigh.
3RD Pickup's Roadcoach Ribbons and Roses.

CLASS 21 BRACE

1ST Kays Brace.
Very well matched liver pair just like looking at peas in a pod and they were well schooled so stood and moved so beautifully together.
2ND Dodds and Pearson's Brace. Another well match brace this time black. Moved round the ring in unison.
3RD Smith's Brace.
