It was a great honour to judge this beautiful breed at this prestigious show. A long day but most
enjoyable, thank you exhibitors for the entry of 201 dogs. Quality was quite variable and I was
disappointed that in the lower classes there were so few really promising youngsters. I was
delighted with my final line-up and eventual outcome. Temperaments were mainly sound but there
were two potentially aggressive Dalmatians, a small percentage but still entirely unacceptable. A few
were simply unhappy in these surroundings and some seemed inadequately schooled for
competition at this level.
Veteran Dog (6,1)
1. Bolt’s Buffrey Belleissimo At Fakenham 10 yo masculine dog in hard condition, balanced

decorated b/w with good substance and balanced overall construction in hard condition, good
forehand, topline and well-muscled hindquarters. Showed well and covered the ground effectively.
Puppy Dog (10,1)
A disappointing class with too many gay tails, upright fronts, straight
backends and a lack of ringcraft. My three winners were a ‘cut above’
1. Cleland’s Candidals King Of The World By Deovolante, a promising youngster, well
developed, balanced overall construction with clean outline and attractive b/w decoration, a
pleasing masculine head, elegant neck and good lay of shoulder, sound forehand with good bone

wither and good topline, deep in brisket, strong bone and good feet with a spring of pastern,
powerful well-proportioned hindquarters, moved with drive, competently handled.
Yearling Dog (12,2) a difficult class, a number of dogs who looked good initially fell apart on the
move & paid the price.
1. Bolt’s Fakenham Ferrera Rocher
2 . Cauldwell’s Popspride and Prejudice, well spotted b/w with pleasing masculine head,
moderate and balanced overall with a clean outline, elegant neck into wither, topline and tailset,

symmetrical in outline and balanced overall, profuse decoration of good liver pigment, typical head
and appealing expression, elegant neck and good topline, strong bone with cat feet, wellproportioned
hindquarters used effectively on the move, presented in hard condition and
competently handled.
Post Graduate Dog (15,1)Overall this class lacked quality in depth with poor movement and incorrect
forehands in evidence. I was also surprised to find inadequate ringcraft skills at this level. My winners stood out as well presented and sound carriage dogs.
1. Cromwell’s Mapplewell Black Magic By Liverdals, elegant well covered attractively
decorated b/w with typical head and appealing expression, moderate balanced proportions, good
demeanour, tapered neck into good topline and tailset, strong loin, sound forehand with good lay of

Webb & Chrystal’s Dalleaf Devil in Disguise At Jemblewood, eye-catching male, sparsely but evenly decorated with beautifully pigmented black on clear white ground, pleasing masculine head, elegant neck into a defined wither atop a very sound forehand and a visible sternum, strong forelegs with spring of pastern, good topline into croup and tailset, well-proportioned and angulated
hindquarters with well let down hocks, showed well and handled with flair, sound driving movement.
3. Farrell’s Chandally Coed Cyfareddol, moderate and balanced overall, attractive l/w
decoration, masculine head of good proportions, elegant neck and good forehand with defined

conformation, masculine head and elegant tapered neck into good wither, topline and tailset, sound loin, good front angulation with defined sternum and a depth of brisket, good feet and bone, moved and showed well.
Limit Dog (9,2) I was disappointed with the lack of quality in depth at this level where ideally strong competition for top honours should have been more forthcoming.
1. Baker’s Oneowun Ohio moderate and masculine, balanced overall, well pigmented b/w,
strong bone and well muscled condition, tapered neck, sound forehand with good legs, feet and
pastern spring, good topline and underline, strong well defined loin, powerful hindquarters with let
down hocks, showed well enough standing but raised his game on the move, going at just the right
pace he flowed effortlessly round the ring, not putting a foot wrong.
2 Corcoran & Hardy’s Mountsorrel Crescendo of Shydally, an attractive male with a clean
outline and overall symmetry, rather small and sparse b/w decoration, appealing masculine head
and very elegant neck, good forequarters with a defined sternum, good bone, plenty of heart and
lung room, good topline and tail set and carriage, a width of thigh, moved with drive and animation
but rather too quickly so lost out a little on precision of tracking.
3. Smith’s Dalminshi Starcluster, elegant and attractive male with sparse but well pigmented
and even b/w decoration, dark eye and well set and carried ears, most elegant tapered neck, defined
wither, good topline, underline and loin, a width of thigh, turn of stifle and let down hock, moved
and showed well, competently handled.
Open Dog (24,2) An exceptional class with a depth of quality in the 22 dogs present.
1 Hartley & Griffith’s Ch Creaganbrec The Favourite At Mirague JW, an outstanding
Dalmatian, winner of this exceptionally strong class. He epitomises the essential characteristics of a
carriage dog , with excellent demeanour and capable of great endurance, richly deserving the DCC

proportioned shoulders, strong bone and tight feet, excellent body with a forechest, spring of rib &

and precisely, a good colour l/w with balanced conformation overall, masculine head , good
forehand, legs and feet, strong bone, plenty of heart and lung room, strong loin, powerful
hindquarters, showed well.

good body and loin, good ring presence but could have been shown a little more to advantage both
standing and moving

Open Bitch (15,2)
A class full of quality
1. Christie’s Sophtspot Snap Crackle N Pop JW I gave this bitch her title as a yearling, three
years on she is a mature Dalmatian of exceptional quality, an exemplar of the standard and
presented in clean hard condition. The rapport with the handler is patent and at no point did this
‘team’ put a foot wrong. Excellent overall balance with symmetrical proportions and an excellent
demeanour with attractive b/w decoration. A beautiful feminine head on an elegant neck, a defined
wither into correct topline and tailset, excellent forehand, legs and feet, strong bone, plenty of heart
and lung room, clean and strong loin, powerful well angulated hindquarters complete the picture
standing. Fitness for type and purpose is evident on the move, effortlessly flowing around the ring
with such precision, so obviously a carriage dog. I was delighted today to award this excellent bitch
BCC & BOB.
2. Goff-Leggett’s Mullabuoy Miss Chief of Washakie JW, moderate and feminine b/w,
balanced overall, beautifully presented in sparkling condition and most competently handled, good

feminine head and tapered neck into defined wither and good topline, good forehand with defined
