Joint Dalmatian Clubs 2013 Judged by Mrs Jane Gardner & Stef Kazana
Dogs

I would like to thank all the exhibitors who brought their dogs under me today. I was looking for a Dalmatian that fitted the standard and that above all was sound and could move which is essential in a carriage dog. Several decisions were close and I thank the exhibitors for accepting them in the sporting manner we expect in our breed. I would also like to thank Stef my co judge for Brace etc. My stewards, Stephen Addy and Josi Kaal kept the ring moving along quietly and efficiently. Finally a big thank you to the Dalmatian Club of Scotland for the nomination for this show.

BITCHES

It was a real honour and privilege to be asked to judge this prestigious show and an event that I was really looking forward to. I extend a big thank you to the Dalmatian Club of Scotland for nominating me and to the Joint Show Officers who organized the well run show and made me so welcome. A big thank you goes to my stewards who ensured the ring ran smoothly but I reserve the biggest thank you to you, the exhibitors, for my excellent entry of 98 which in today’s financial climate was superb. What a privilege to be allowed to judge your lovely Dalmatians. It was also a pleasure to work with my co-judge to decide the Brace class and BIS etc. On a breed note all exhibits displayed excellent temperament but short tails are still an issue. Some excellent bitches didn’t get the placing they deserved because I couldn’t go over them effectively. KC guidelines says that if an exhibit refuses to be handled or is timid then the judge should avoid giving an award. In the senior classes I was spoilt for choice and some beautiful bitches just missed out on an award as I “split hairs” to make my decisions.

Minor Puppy Bitch (10 – 3)

1st Morgan’s - Winflash Olympic Star
An exhuberant seven mth old black spotted bitch. Correct shape of head for a puppy with nice dark eyes. Good ear carriage into a well arched neck. Excellent chest definition for a youngster. Level topline which is held on the move. Even clear dense spotting. A very promising puppy.
2nd Suggett’s – Dalesbred Geebee Gold for Kintegus 7 mth old liver bitch. Heavier set and taller in the leg than 1. Lovely feminine expression with correct dark eyes. Correctly set ears, good reach of neck into defined withers. On the move she enjoyed the occasion and displayed good drive. Needs to gain full control of all her limbs which will come with age.
3rd Dinsdale’s – Dalesbred Going For Gold

Puppy Bitch ( 10 – 2)

1st Dunnachie’s – Dvojica Volition
A lovely 11 mth old liver with super even spotting, correct eye colour and a very pleasing expression. Good ear set into a long neck and well defined withers. Super level top line and correct length of tail. On the move she displayed typical puppy movement, loose but controlled. Another puppy who will go on to greater things.
2nd Richardson’s – Klarkeson Driven By You via Mapplewell A black spotted bitch similar in size but lighter in weight than 1. A pretty feminine expression, carries her ears correctly. Good fore chest and correctly laid shoulder. Well off for bone. Good spring of pastern and nice tight feet. Moved with drive around the ring. Her young replacement handler did a wonderful job in the final line up to get the best out of her. I’m sure we will see a lot of this bitch and her young handler in future classes.

On the move she really enjoys herself, moving around the ring with ease. Her tail never stops wagging! Another wonderful example of the breed from this long established kennel. Expertly handled, she’s had a glittering career so far and I’m sure top honours are on the cards before long. One to watch.

A lovely maturing liver bitch who displays correct size and proportions. Not overdone in any way. Plenty of fore chest and correctly laid shoulders. Well off for bone and muscle. A level topline into well defined rump. On the move she really powered around the ring with a free and easy style.
2nd Hobbs & Whiting’s – Winflash Loopy Loo A black spot with heavier build than 1. Good even spotting on a clear white background. A nice compact example of the breed who is maturing nicely. Displayed true movement on the away and return and a powerful but controlled rhythmic flow around the ring.

Open Bitch ( 11 – 1 )

1st Quayle’s – Ch. Cubalibre Spot On JW
What a beautiful example of the breed. Lovely dense black spotting on a pure white background. Nothing is exaggerated on this bitch. Correct height to length ratio makes for a super outline. Good depth of brisket, correct front and rear angulations, well off for bone and muscle without being over done. Correct tail set and length. She moved with powerful graceful ease around the ring. I’ve admired this bitch for a long time and was pleased to make the easy decision to award her the BCC which I understand is her 20th such award.
2nd Whincup’s – Tamilanda Hot Pink Another quality example from this kennel. A prime example of a liver who displays some great breed characteristics. Slightly long cast she has a delightful kind expression with beautiful dark brown eyes which can be had to achieve. Well off for bone and muscle. Good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Her movement is true on the “away” and “return” and she powers around the ring. I’ve judged her before on several occasions when she was not quite on top form but today she gave it her “all” and it showed. I was so pleased to be able to award her the RCC.
3rd Alexander’s – Ch. Offordale Sapphire JW

Special Junior Veteran Bitch ( 9 – 1 )

1st Dunnachie’s – Ch. Dvojica Voodoo JW
What can I say about this wonderful bitch that has not already been said. She is “top draw” quality, but now at nearly nine years old her muscle definition is not quite as hard as some of the younger exhibits. She still moves like a dream and can certainly show many of the youngsters a thing or two. It was a pleasure to go over her and to see her move.
2nd Neath-Duggan’s – Ch. Buffrey Sprig O Mint JW Another quality black spotted bitch of correct size. A strong but feminine head with a pleasing expression. A good reach of neck into well defined withers. Correct angulations both front and rear. On the move she belied her age moving with a strong powerful rhythmic action.
3rd Fort’s – Ch. Lady Of Light from Shulune

Special Senior Veteran Bitch ( 2 – 0 )

1st Bardet’s – Fr/ Int / Mc Ch. Cibrith Pepper’n’ Salt
An 11 year old lightly spotted black, Good head shape with well broken ears. Good reach of neck into well defined withers. Clean in outline but showing signs of reduced muscle due to age. On the move she moved smartly around the ring.
2nd Garton’s – Jabbawock The Ringleader (Imp) Sh.CM A 10 Y/O liver bitch who is quite heavily spotted. A pretty feminine head and expression. Clean in outline but showing signs of her age with loss of muscle definition. On the move she went around the ring happily wagging her tail but showing signs of stiffness.
