I was very pleased with the overall quality of the entry & found many more correct fronts & more good, driving movement than the last time that I judged. A few had signs of ‘dally rash’ but none were sufficiently affected to consider exclusion from the ring. Ticking seems to be more prevalent & was a factor in some of my placings. Temperaments were excellent with one or two exceptions who were slightly nervous of being handled& this affected their prospects of high placings.
MPD (3)
1 Stirling’s Winflash Dappled White, first time out for this 6 months b/w baby & he looks the part in make & shape, good bone & the best head in this class, excellent tailset, nicely marked. Looked rather small but still plenty of time for him to grow on;
2 Bryant’s Theakston Time Traveller, 7 months b/w, much more well grown than 1, a very lively puppy whose movement was difficult to assess, head lacking in stop at this stage. Good bone, correct tailset. Looked a little high on the leg & still needs to develop in chest; 3 Cromwell’s Liverdals Dalmazzo.
PD (2)
1 Kembrey’s Dalmark The Pinot Grigio, very fit nearly 12 months l/w of good colour, excellent eye colour, very good shoulder & upper arm construction, good spring of rib. Looks rather high on the leg at this stage & stifles not ideal as yet, moved soundly but not quite as freely as I would hope for.
JD (8) Good class filled with dogs showing lovely long striding movement.
1 Clarke’s Klarkeson One Vision, promising 14 months b/w with really dense pigment, good depth of chest, long ribcage, excellent stifles & tail carriage, tight feet but a shorter toe would be ideal. Made a lovely outline standing, moved well with drive;
2 Dunnachie’s Dvojica Vendetta, 14 months b/w with lovely bold spotting, broad skull but head slightly plainer, excellent bone, long ribcage, excellent stifles & tailset, lovely short toes, driving mover. Very close between these two;
3 Scott-Allen & Davis’ Tolutim Yaffle.
PGD (9) A strong class & I surprised myself (& maybe everyone watching) with my winner, whose handler struggled to get his dog to show his merits.
1 Wilson’s Wilsilva Caradoc, I feel that there is a really good b/w exhibit lurking here. Lovely outline, good bone & feet, low hocks, lovely tailset & carriage, boldly spotted. His future could still be bright if his showmanship can get sorted out;
2 Bolt’s Fakenham Ferrera Rocher, what a contrast, very well trained l/w, very strong looking, excellent bone, good upper arm giving plenty of forechest, correct pasterns, very good body & tail. I felt did not quite have the hindquarters to match his excellent front;
3 Whincup’s Tamilanda Panther Lilly.
LD (6)
1 Alcock’s Creaganbrec Face Of Beau at Dalspartan, l/w of compact type, excellent eye colour, good body & tail carriage, good low hocks, quite well spotted. I would prefer slightly more angulation of upper arms& stifles;
2 Williams’ Phadante Brightonrock, 5 years l/w & not much to choose between 1 & 2, good eye colour & length of neck. Slightly better front than 1 & slightly longer cast, not quite the quality of coat of 1& a little more ticking;
3 Barnsley’s Tanstar Jet Black.
OD (5)
1 Alexander’s Ch Offordale Chevalier, I awarded this dog his first RCC as a puppy & is now in his prime, here his strength was almost too much for his handler, but the flow of his movement in profile was still breathtaking & he had enough in hand to win the CC & BOB, I could list all of the things that I admire about him, but there would be little deviation from a straight repetition of the Standard, although he could be a little more compact in loin, there is little else to comment on adversely, I love him;
2 Goff-Leggett’s Ch Washakie Nutcracker Prince, built on slightly smaller lines than 1, I have admired this lovely 5 years b/w from the ringside on many occasions & he has been close to a major award from me on previous occasions that I have judged, here he was looking superb, so well balanced & not overdone in any way, it was a pleasure to be able to award him the RCC;
3 Dodds & Pearson’s Kelevra Hudson Hawk.
MPB (6)
1 Thorne’s Castletop Penderyn, 7 months b/w of substance, correct head, excellent front & stifles, looks the part in outline in particular, a good winner of this class;
2 Ensell’s Winflash New Direction for Nemiah, 6 months smaller cobby b/w at her first show, not quite balanced in topline yet but lots to like about her, plenty of bone, excellent shoulders, upper arm length & angulation, has a slightly ticky coat. Two nice puppies;
3 Wilson’s Wilsilva Full Moon Mystery.
PB (4) A difficult class where all three placed represented somewhat different manifestations of breed type, all three had lots to offer but in different respects.
1 Bauert & Saunders’ Dallydyl Met By Moonlight, 10 months l/w of lovely colour, great depth of chest, lovely long ribcage & compact loin, well boned, not flashy but a good, sound substantial bitch. BP;
2 Suggett’s Dalesbred Geebee Gold for Kintegus, 10 months l/w, longer on the leg than 1 & not looking quite the ideal height to length proportion at this stage, but a quality bitch in lovely coat, one who needs time to see how she finishes, certainly meets the elegance requirement of the Standard without losing substance;
3 Morgan’s Winflash Olympic Star.
JB (7) One of the two hardest decisions of the day, 1 & 2 are high quality exhibits & until the open winner came in, I thought that these could be my top two bitches.
1 Haywood-Ridgway’s Luccombe Strawberry Dream, 17 months b/w, my notes just say gorgeous, correct combination of substance & elegance, lovely front assembly, great width of thigh, correct stifles, really bold spotting with deep pigmentation on a perfect white background, fully attentive to handler & moving with style. CC;
2 Dunnachie’s Dvojica Volition, a lovely 14 months l/w, really good forehand, excellent bone, superb feet, perfect topline standing & on the move, lovely width of thigh & correct stifles, not quite bodied up as well as 1 yet, but moved with lovely drive. Just wish that she would put a bit more into her showing, time is on her side;
3 Sampson’s Dalstorm Black Orchid.
PGB (16)
1 Emmett & Simons’ Dallivro Reba Mac at Ellemstra, strikingly marked b/w, took my eye as she entered the ring, loveliest of heads, good bone & feet, excellent depth of chest, good length of ribcage, excellent coat & overall condition, moved with a long stride but slightly proud of her tail on the move, should get to the top in time;
2 Kaal’s Olbero One Quicksilver for Schunikka, b/w, slightly finer than 1 in build but very elegant in head & neck, good balanced hindquarters, adequately spotted. Outline slightly marred by her tail carriage;
3 Fillingham’s Tamilanda Blue Water Lilly.
LB (8)
1 Page’s Winflash Elle’s Belle’s, b/w, excellent head, good length of neck, so well boned, great depth of chest with long ribcage, lovely tight feet, excellent hindquarters & tailset. I would prefer slightly more forechest to be ideal but a lovely bitch;
2 Martland’s Kalokairie’s Lady Eleanor at Deefadal, l/w, adequate spotting of a slightly darker shade than the ideal but she was not in the best of coat. Built on a smaller mould than 1, very dark eye, lovely bone, good feet, excellent hindquarters, moved well;
3 Wright’s Boutonneux Artemis of Millbelle.
OB (11) A really strong class, I was sorry not to be able to reward some really nice bitches.
1 Alexander’s Offordale Catalina, lovely, compact b/w who I have admired from the ringside, litter sister of my BOB, did not disappoint on going over her, really lovely head & expression, excellent front with good bone& feet, moved with a very long stride, quality all through & very sympathetically handled. Just a pound or two less weight would have been ideal, just had enough maturity & showmanship to win the RCC over the second in Junior;
2 Goff-Leggett’s Mullabuoy Miss Chief of Washakie, b/w, expertly shown in excellent condition, lovely head into a quality front, best of hindquarters, very boldly but slightly sparsely marked, has the combination of substance& elegance that I was looking for, with a little more confidence she could have won this class;
3 Neath-Duggan’s Ch Buffrey Sprig O Mint.
