NOEDC Ch Show 13 July 2013. Critique (Bitches)
Grateful thanks to the Officers, Committee, and their helpers of the NOEDC for their hospitality & kindness. My two stewards Josie & Sharron were terrific, and really did an excellent job; many thanks indeed. I was conscious of loads of prizes and rosettes being handed out, with the ultimate winner probably needing Pickfords to take it all home. Again credit must be given to the individuals who made this possible. A lot of hard work was expended to make this 110th Anniversary Show, the success it was.
The venue is excellent (perhaps expensive) and served us well in the very hot conditions. The Bitches seemed to cope very well in the heat. We of course have some super exhibits at the very top end. Equally there seems to be some coming along to challenge them from below – watch out !! I gathered an impression from mainly the lower and younger classes that there was some exhibits that appeared too tall, and therefore unbalanced, at this stage of their development. There were some nice puppies on show, and the battle for the RCC was contended by several, with the puppy winner finally seizing it. The CC winner seemed impervious to the conditions, and put in an high octane performance all day
Special Junior Veteran Bitch (8 entries, 2 absent)
1. Roach's Ch Hebe Aleatory in Holderness JW Sh.CM (Best Veteran Bitch)
A striking black of just over 9 yrs. In top condition, sound construction, average size, and moved with purpose. Lovely head, dark eyes, good temperament.
2. Addy's Creaganbrec Rosie Cotton JW Sh.CM
An equally attractive black, just under 9yrs, smaller type, but equally well made. A neat and tidy package, good easy movement, happy personality, great condition. Very little separated these two
3. Cuthbertson's Ch Kalsidoni Garnet JW Sh.CM
Special Veteran Bitch (4, 2a)
1. Wilson's Chandhally Phoenix for Dalregis
Medium size, 10 ½ yo. Very feminine with attractive lighter markings than some, and in very good condition. Soundly put together, moved steadily in harmony with handler. Agreeable disposition, and seemingly enjoyed her day out.
2. Bardet's Ch & Int Fr Ch Cibrith Pepper 'n' Salt
Just over 11 yrs old. Black spotted, and roughly the same size as one, but a bit longer in back, nice temperament. Decent construction, and movement in profile was extremely positive, however her coat condition was not at its best today.
Minor Puppy Bitch (8, 3a)
1. Goodman's Theakston Twinkling Star
Beautifully marked black, well put together, Ideal size & proportions, moved with good reach & drive. Super show temperament. Being two months older than 2, she had the edge today in bodily development. Handler just needs to tidy up his technique on the move and she will be a tough competitor
2. Gardner's Dvojica Black Again at Wrendragge
The same comments apply here, except this handler had more control in the movement dept. It was a tight decision, however the quality of this youngster shone through, in winning two later classes against more mature opposition
3. Graham-Wheall's Theakston Touch of Magic for Phidgity
Puppy Bitch (9, 2a)
1. Morgan's Winflash Olympic Star (Res CC, Best Puppy in Show)
Has almost reached the junior ranks in age. Was certainly a star today, mixing it with the big girls in the challenge. Super black spotting and coat condition. Not as tall as some, but great proportions, and angulations at both ends. The best of temperaments, good correct & rhythmic movement, with an excellent tail carriage. Always seemed to be on her toes, and showing at all times.
2. Theakston Twinkling Star
3. Theakston Touch of Magic For Phidgity
Junior Bitch (9, 3a)
1. Knight's Jabbawock The Time Turner
Very neat 14-month-old liver, feminine youngster, with pretty good all round movement. Attractive decoration, and amenable temperament. Not as big as some, but bang on the standard, and balanced in construction
2. Sampson's Dalstorm Black Orchid
Liked her standard size and overall balance, with good substance & confirmation. Powerful driving action viewed in profile. Black spotted, and roughly the same age as 1. This was a case of “looking beyond the spots” as her bodily decoration and plain face & head are not her fortune.
3. Batchelor & Emms' Dallydyl Love in Idleness
Yearling Bitch (7, 2a)
1. Haywood-Ridgway's Luccombe Strawberry Dream
Just out of junior. A standard sized black with good decoration, and angulations at front & rear. Lovely tail carriage, held correctly on the move. Presented in a relaxed fashion, never dropped her concentration at all. In contention for the top honours, but today didn’t seem to move with the crispness and sparkle of some of her rivals
2. Dalstorm Black Orchid
3. Croft's Doubtwell Ebony Night
Maiden Bitch (10, 2a)
1. Dvojica Black Again at Wrendragge
2. Dalstorm Black Orchid
3 Suggett’s Dalesbred Geebee Gold for Kintegus
Novice Bitch (10, 4a)
1. Dvojica Black Again at Wrendragge
2. Dalstorm Black Orchid
3. Pickup’s Roadcoach Reine des Roses
Graduate Bitch (8, 4a)
1. Thorner's Tolutim Evensong
Eye catching black spotted decoration. Built on sound clean lines and correct proportions, good all round steady movement. An altogether very nice bitch
2. Bonner's Caprilli's In The Mood de Dalticino
Liver spotted and shorter in back than 1. Sound and compact, good construction, decent movement. Nice steady temperament.
3. Vockings' Portunes Enchantress
Post Graduate Bitch (12, 3a)
1. Stocks' Kalokairies Lady Bollinger at Nospar JW
Black spotted two year old. One of those in the best of coat condition today. Has a clean and most graceful of outlines. Presented a classy feminine image. Perfect size, excellent construction, and sound movement, totally balanced throughout. A genuine contender in the challenge
2. Emmett & Simons' Dalliviro Reba Mac at Ellemstra JW Sh.CM
Another real eye catcher. Of a slightly stronger build, and more profuse black markings. Also in tip-top condition. Very good mover, and showgirl, and pushed hard. Most things being equal, just preferred the femininity of 1
3 Lamb's Dalpetro Diva JW
Limit Bitch (16, 3a)
One of the best classes today. Several very good exhibits went cardless
1. Martland's Kalokairies Lady Eleanor at Deefadal (CC, Best in Show)
Two year old liver. A real dazzler in everything she did. Super movement, viewed from all aspects, with a tail carried to perfection. Ultra feminine, correct size, and in possession of all the correct constructional points .Balanced, graceful & elegant, with an extrovert show temperament. Maintained a high level of intensity all day to take the top spot in agreement with my co-judge
2. Gardinor's Dalispots Dubyana at Dakata
A further quality liver of just a year older. A shade larger, but balanced and very nicely made. Rich liver spotting, moved with freedom and precision. Could not quite match the show performance, of 1, but a real competitor for RCC
3. Kembrey's Dalmark The Sand Witch
Open Bitch (11, 2a)
1. Quayle's Cubalibre Spot On JW
Nearly 3yrs old, black spotted, in great condition. Not tall, but plenty of substance. Spectacular spotting, and good rear angulation; holds herself beautifully on the move. Stood to perfection and moved correctly in a controlled fashion. A formidable opponent who was just nudged out in the challenge today; not much in it.
2. Tingey's Ch Phaeland Pheonix Phorever by Dallyador JW
Excellent liver spotted girl. A little longer cast than 1, but a lovely mover who displays all of her qualities in respect of construction and shape. Circled the ring in style. On this showing would compare favourably with anything today. A close decision,
3. Kembrey's Dalmark The Super Sleuth JW
Special Beginners Bitch (Monica Davidson Memorial Stakes) (9, 2a)
1. Jabbawock The Time Turner
2. Dalstorm Black Orchid
3. Caprilli's In The Mood de Dalticino
