Bournemouth 2013 Judged by Mrs J Lanning
A quality entry was awaiting Rodney Oldham but his sudden & serious illness placed me in as substitute judge. My thanks to exhibitors in the sporting acceptance of my placings. This remains as one of our most unspoilt breeds. Given to no exaggeration, a bonny healthy dog with wonderful temperament. One could hardly ask for more? But we are looking at show dogs who have a Standard & a good one at that, so I have to say points that need watching. Far too many light eyes in the black spotted. A pity because a required dark eye does gives a finish to an otherwise good dog. Over the years there is a tendancy for the breed to become bigger. We don't want weedy fine boned animals, must come a time, when height must come into consideration? Quite a few could have been more collected & positive on the move but this can be down to training& correct exercise. Not much wrong with this breed as I see them. My notes on the individual winners are fairly brief. I enjoyed my day & good to hear that Rodney Oldham is well on the mend.
