Rather a good entry on paper but decimated by the number of absentees. Where they were good they were extremely good but there were some disappointments. The biggest change I observed was that heads are changing. The muzzle length seems to be lessening more & more & along with that, the cheeks seem to be developing along the lines of a hamster that’s just had a good feed. This does destroy a quintessential part of what I see in a Dally head. There should be strength with the necessary width in skull, but the long muzzle, without being weak, can give that added elegance & air of refinement which is one of the breed’s attractions for me. Handling has not improved & quite a few exhibits blew their chances with just moving in an almost uncontrolled fashion making movement impossible to fairly assess.
It was lovely to hear post the show, that the BP had gone through to win BPIS. Well done & so deserved as she has real class.

1 Davis’ Dalkereve Deputy Dodge, I hope he does not grow on too much, but this is a well decorated & coloured liver. So well constructed, lovely shoulders, tight elbows, level in back, good neck. Already well muscled aft. Just needs to learn to be more composed on the move;
2 Stirling’s Winflash Dappled White, this black is out of a smaller mould & his tail is very gay. He stands rather too square & I would like a more almond eye. Super in coat decoration, has lovely hindquarters & was well handled.
PD (3)
1 Vockings & Smethhurst’s Portunes Green Day, another liver, what a reach of neck, well defined withers, level back leading to a well set & carried tail, ample depth in rib, so well muscled hindquarters & well let down hocks, ears spotted, lovely expression, the best mover in this class;
2 Graham-Weall’s Theakston Touch Of Class of Phidgity, I liked the outline on this black dog once he was able to stand for long enough without fidgeting. Ribs have depth, needs a bit more forechest, backline good, well muscled aft, in spanking coat. Not so steady coming towards me as 1. Nicely headed;
3 Bryant’s Theakston Time Traveller.
JD (10)
1 Green & Sear’s Tolutin Yves St Laurent at Judally, this liver really comes into his own on the move where he shows his good construction & lithe, easy action. All male in outlook, pleasing head, eyes& expression, reachy neck & really well handled;
2 Hobbs & Whiting’s Boutonneux Baby Buco avec Rapanooey, I thought this black too showed promise, in really good condition, good size, ample neck, delightful expression, backline firm but a fraction long in loin. Tail is good & he is well decorated. Like 1, he went around the ring with a look of a dog in the peak of fitness & could go for miles;
3 Clarke’s Klarkeson One Vision.
GD (8)
1 B Baby Buco avec R;
2 K One Vision, another who must appeal in stance as he is a good size, balanced in length/height proportions & holds his quality head high, outline is smooth flowing & in lovely condition. Lost out as he was throwing his pasterns about coming towards me;
3 Scott-Allen’s Tolutim Yaffle.
PGD (5)
1 RCC, Dunnachiew’s Dvojica Vendetta, I see is one of the good exhibits I liked which are by Ch Future Brand. Just looks the part, elegant in repose, shapely, reachy neck, well defined withers, level back, correct set & carried tail, so well muscled in hindquarters & he displayed an easy effortless side action as he went around the ring. Came to me the best in this class. Head is a delight, sufficient width in skull, sufficient stop, decent length of muzzle & clean in cheek. His future must be bright;
2 Wright’s Millebelle Lithium, liked this handsome headed black a lot & he ran 1 close. When he settles to set himself up, he impresses with that smooth, flowing shape, useful neck & nice head. He was just slightly less accurate coming towards me which swung the scales;
3 Bolt’s Fakenham Ferrera Rocher.
LD (7)
1 Eden’s Dalens Hot Gossip, smart, unexaggerated dog who is so balanced in construction, well angulated & muscled hindquarters, ribs to the elbow, not overdone in forechest & so well boned with tight feet. Tail well set & carried, went around the ring a good, clean positive stride. He looked good in the challenge;
2 Munro’s Tanstar Sea The Stars, well decorated black, his shape will draw the eye on the stack, I loved his bend of stifle & firm well let down hocks. Good reach of neck but he gets carried away on the move, tail becoming a little on the high side & he loses his topline as he moves around the ring;
3 Alcokc’s Creaganbrec Face Of Beau at Dalsspartan.
OD (3)
1 CC & BOB, Alexander’s Ch Offordale Chevalier, what a powerhouse & I’m glad I don’t have to move him! A joy to go over & when at rest & posed, he is absolutely stunning. Beautifully headed, great neck, well laid shoulders, so well ribbed & his muscletone is unbelievable. At first he really played up on the move but after three times around the ring he was eventually controlled enough to show just how good he can move! Deserves all the successes he has had;
2 Dodds & Pearson’s Kelevra Hudson Hawk, nicely shaped, very good head balance & eyes, his proportions are so good, well decorated, well presented & handled. Not quite the finish behind of Chevalier & I feel I would a little more width in second thigh. Used himself soundly as he went around the ring;
3 Croft’s Doubtwell Showstopper.
GCD (4)
1 Wheaton’s Dalamanti Phantom Medal, tall, elegant in outline, really good reach of neck, lovely eye & expression, ribs to the elbow. Decoration could be deeper in colour;
2 Sampson’s Stocklore Wizard Of The Forrest, smaller chap, I liked his head, eyes & expression, ample neck, in good coat. Disappointed on the move as he was stepping short;
3 Barnsley’s Tanstar Jet Black.
VB (1)
1 CC, Neath-Duggan’s Ch Buffrey Sprig O Mint, I loved her on sight & she is the essence of an outstanding Dally bitch ch. Oozes sheer style & elegance with that wonderful outline, neck long & clean throated, good angles both ends, well developed ribs, such good muscletone aft. Her head I loved, it has length in muzzle, sufficient width in skull, the eyes are a joy & she looks nothing like her 8 years. My notes were ‘outstanding – Ch?’Her action was smooth striding & sound. Delighted to learn that on a previous occasion I had given her the RCC!
MPB (4)
1 BP, PG1 & BPIS, Gardner’s Dvojica Black Again at Wrandragge, what a charmer, has an air of class & sheer style. Beautifully headed, clean limbed, stunning outline, ample width in chest & the straightest of forelimbs, light footed, totally sound & is shown on a loose lead. Surely her future is very bright;
2 Dunnachie’s Dvojica Black Swan, litter sister to 1 & shares many of her virtues. Loved her size & shape, beautiful head & expression, in spotless coat. Not so settled in action as her sister but has time on her side;
3 Harrison-Stratford’s Dalkereve Dark Drifter.
PB (8)
1 D Black Again at W;
2 Philip’s Dvojica Bubble N Chic at Nordalset, another sister from this outstanding litter & I admired everything about her. She too has style, shape, type & moves out so very well. I particularly liked her head with that clean cheek & length of muzzle. Another which will surely have a great career. Unlucky to meet her sister in such form;
3 Graham-Weall’s Theakston Touch Of Magic for Phidgity.
JB (10)
1 Morgan’s Winflash Olympis Star, heaps to admire in this quality bitch, loved her size & overall balance, good reach of neck, level back, ample rib depth & good forelegs, sufficient bend of stifle, in good bloom & her easy profile action got her the class;
2 Bachelor & Emms’ Dalldyl Love In Idleness, heavily decorated but good to go over. Scores in shoulder assembly, reach of neck & that clean cut outline, head has length, clean in cheek, eyes are a good shape & colour;
3 Bauert & Saunders’ Dallydyl Wet By Moonlight.
GB (9)
1 Vockings & Smethurst’s Portunas Enchantress, this liver bitch was the one that stole the show! Medium height, shapely nicely headed, sound as a pound & superbly handled, especially on the move. That was the catch! Her handler is a little girl – I’m guessing 8 or thereabouts, & she put all the adults to shame. Totally controlled, stacked her bitch correctly & moved her out exactly right. While the adults crumbled she remained calm & collected & her first prize award was greeted with an enormous cheer;
2 Brindley’s Dalamanti Black Pearl of Lightoke, good for head & expression, well decorated with larger spots, ample angulation, lovely coat condition. Threw it away on the move where she was all over the place on the up & down;
3 Neal’s Tolkain Portobello Belle.
PGB (5)
1 RCC, Dunnachie’s Dvojica Volition, another from this outstanding kennel & litter sister to the RDCC – & of course again by Future Brand. Their dam is the famous Ch Voodoo. This one is liver, what a shape, looks a class act, exudes quality, lovely head, beautiful expression, devoid of exaggeration anywhere, just balanced construction, a terrific neck & sound, smooth as silk action;
2 Thorner’s Tolutin Evensong, quite a heavily spotted bitch with really good head, very good neck, bit short in upper arm length which reflects in her profile action where her forward reach could not match Volitions. In stunning coat & so well handled;
3 Saunder’s Dallydyl Lady of Shalott.
LB (11)
1 Haywood-Ridgeways’ Luccombe Strawberry Dream, medium height, pleasing head & expression, lovely reach of neck, very well ribbed, level backline & well muscled rump, well boned, tight feet, the smoothest profile mover in the class;
2 Thorn’s Cibrith Cosmos at Castletop, really liked this bitch a lot but for some reason every time she stacked her topline dipped behind the withers which detracted from her appeal. I loved her head, full of quality, stunning expression & such a good length of muzzle;
3 Addy’s Creaganbrec Evie Rose.
OB (5)
1 Quayle’s Ch Culaibre Spot On, a bitch I have admired before & from memory I’ve given her a RCC. Is a class item, a deserved ch, ultra feminine in head & expression, very good hindquarters, well set tail & impeccable in jacket & muscletone. While she out-moved the others in this class, I felt the VB scored in reach of neck & the younger RCC bitch was just that shade truer coming towards me;
2 Wright’s Boutonneux Artmeis of Millbelle, admired much in this good liver bitch, well bodied, lovely ribbing, supple in loin & has excellent hindquarters, covers the ground well in side action. I just preferred the eye & expression of Spot On;
3 Bolt-Knowledge’s Boutonneaux Galathea at Gemmont.
GCB (1) 1 Sampson’s Dalstirm Black Orchid, standing she ticks lots of boxes, pleasing shape & outlook, nicely headed, lovely temperament, in good coat. Then she moves…all over the place, enjoying herself & making me smile.
