Richmond 2014 Judged by Mrs Gail Levy
Dalmatians

My first appointment awarding CCs and I thank all who came under me for allowing me to go over your dogs. All my winners were shown on loose leads which allowed the Dalmatian to move at their speed rather than on a tight short lead which means that the dog is moving at the owners speed which shortens the gait and in some cases the dog does not even have four feet on the ground. The quality was very varied and a large number of the dogs had “dallyrash” whilst only one bitch had a skin problem. I did not penalise for the dallyrash. My main criticism would be that I consider some of the bitches to be on the larger side and looking quite masculine. My bitch winners were sound, strong but still retained the elegance which I like to see in the breed. I thank you for accepting my judgement on the day and for the sporting applause for the winners.

Veteran dog. 0.

Puppy Dog (6, 1)

1 McCarthy’s Domdallino Je Suis Kilndandy. Powerful liver boy, well constructed, good angulation, well sprung ribs, moved with ease and rhythm, lovely long stride, does tend to hold his tail high when on the move.
2 Ellarby’s Daedalus Alfie Boe. Very striking black spotted dog. Longer in body. Moved well with good rear extension and was narrowly placed 2nd on the day. Little loose at front which one would expect with a puppy of this age and was beaten by a dog which looked more mature.
3 Wallington’s Rovinjdal Dare to Dream.

Junior
(5, 2)

1. Cadden’s Phadante Jambalaha. Took my eye as soon as he came into the ring. Very striking black spotted boy on dense white coat, who moved with lovely long stride, good topline and tail set, deep chest very balanced, well off for bone, lots to like and I am sure he will do well as he matures. Very well shown.
2 Brand’s Kalsidoni Carnellan. Liver boy. Happy dog who was a bit haphazard on his movement but enjoying his day.
3 Ely’s Wintermine Gaucho.

PG (2,0)

1 Scott Allens Tolutim Yaffle. Black spotted dog well off for bone. Nicely balanced. Lovely head, expression and neck into correct topline. Very typical of this breeder who produces sound typical Dalmatians well constructed, nothing exaggerated.
2 Blisset Shydally’s King Arthur of Kystuno. Good bone and deep chest. Longer cast, not the movement of the 1st.

Limit (7,3)

1 Bolt’s Fakenham Ferrera Rocher. Very powerful liver boy with wonderful stride completely at ease with his handler. Very good topline and tail set. Lovely deep chest. Felt this dog could keep going all day.
2. Hobbs & Whiting Boutonneux Baby Buco avec Rapanooey JW Different type to first in class. Lighter build dense black spotting. Moved well keeping topline. Very balanced. Lots to like. Only beaten in this class as my preference is for a stronger larger male.
3 Lamb’s Dalpetro Decaprio.

Open
(9.3). Very good class.

1 Whincup’s Ch. Tamilanda Panther Lily JW ShCM. The breed standard says distinctively spotted dog, balanced, strong, muscular, active dog, symmetrical in outline. This dog has all these attributes and his handler shows him perfectly allowing him to move with good extension, she keeps his attention but allows him to show the Dalmatian curiosity which I think is essential in our non stacked breed. CC and BOB.
2 Burrow’s Ch. Daedalus Deacon Blue at Shacarlu. Very different type, heavier build, with lovely black dense spotting on pure white coat but again has all the attributes from our breed standard. Moved very well from powerful hind quarters with good bend of stifle. Lovely expression with dark eyes. I gave this dog his first best puppy and was so pleased to go over him again today. Both these dogs showed on loose leads which allowed them to move properly. RCC.
3 Alexander’s Ch. Offordale Chevalier JW.

Bitches.

Veteran
(1,0)

1 Neath’s Ch. Buffrey Sprig o Mint. 1 Beautiful black spotted bitch who moved at ease with her handler. Lovely expression, very good feet and although stood alone in the class deserved her placing. Credit to her breeder and hear that she went Best Veteran in the stakes class. BV.

Puppy (6, 1)

1 Petersen’s Daedalus’ Cliff Angel. Densely black spotted, very well balanced and moved soundly for her young age. Lovely outline with elegant neck, feminine but powerful. Strong front and good feet. Very promising bitch and sure she will go on to top awards. BP .
2 Hobbs & Whiting Rapanooey Rhona. Very pretty black bitch, much finer than 1st. in class but lots to like would just like to see her grow on. Well balanced, moved out well and look forward to see how she develops.
3 Tingey’s Dallyador the Enchantress.

Junior
. (6,3)

1 Alexander’s Offerdale’s Amethyst. Lovely bitch from a breeder I have admired but would like to see this bitch shown on a looser lead which would allow her to move freely. Balanced and well off for bone, very feminine, good topline and tail set.
2. Whiting & Hobbs Rapanooey Rhapsody. Longer coupled black bitch but very promising. Moved well with powerful rear action. Lovely head and expression.
3 Dawson’s Washakie Endless Summer.

Yearling
(5,1) First two could change places, both really lovely, sorry to see them come up against each other.

1 Gardner’s Dvojica Black Again at Wrendagge. JW SH.CM Very mature black spotted who moved out with a lovely stride, keeping topline and looked as if she could go all day. Long elegant neck into withers, correct shoulder placement, good chest.
2 Quayle’s Cubalibre Follow On. The same attributes apply to this bitch, beautiful black spotting, well balanced elegant head and good length of neck . Moved with drive. Unlucky to meet the first in class.
3. Thorne’s Castletop Penderyn.

PG
(6,2)

1 Fillingham’s Tamilanda Blue Water Lily at Dotsadaisy . Black spotting and best mover in class. Balanced and looked like she could keep going all day.
2 Hipkiss’s Lilal Tiger Lily. Finer black spotted bitch ,longer coupled. Well sprung rib cage. Kind expression.
3 Bauet/Saunder’s Dallydyl Met by Moonlight.

Limit
(8,2)

1 Morgan’s Winflash Olympic Star JW. A really lovely bitch, just my type who lost out on going further only as she needs to mature which will come. Balanced, good spotting, moves out well from powerful rear action, at one with her handler. Elegant neck and head. Good feet and know her time will come for further honours.
2 Moate’s Leiahart Honolulu Honey at Sundowndal JW. Different type, taller. Moved well, strong front, good feet. Lots to like but prefer the outline and size of the winner of this class.
3 Carrick’s Selbygray Toinette

Open

1 Emmett & Simon’s Ch. Dallviro Reba Mac at Ellemestra JW Sh.Cm. Beautiful bitch who has the strength and stamina that a Dalmatian requires and still looks femine. Well sprung ribs, strong bone and substance, good reach of neck Moved out well from strong rear quarters, intelligent expression and in excellent condition. CC.
2 Quayle’s Cubalibre Spot On. Sharing many of the same attributes as the 1st in this class, it was difficult to separate the two. Moved out well with her handler, very well off for bone, feminine, lovely head and expression. RCC.
3 Petersen’s Dalimese Whos that Girl at Daedalus JW
