WELKS 2016 Judged by Lisa Rowledge
W.E.L.K.S 23/04/2016 – Dalmatian

I really enjoyed my day judging and thank all of you who brought your dogs under me. All of the dogs were of good temperament and all coats were good. I would have liked more substance on some and some didn’t have such good shoulder and fronts, which I think our breed suffers from in general. I was looking for dogs that covered the ground with ease to do the job they were intended for and I think I achieved this in my main winners. Some classes were really hard as I would have liked to have given more than one first place, especially in some of the bitch classes.

Veteran Dog -1 (1)

Minor Puppy Dog - 3 (0)

1st - Goodswen’s Alphadal’s King Of Angels Seven month old black and white dog. Substantial and well developed for one so young. Lovely head and expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulder good front with plenty of bone. Well developed chest. Correct top line standing and on the move. Good bend of stifle. Covered the ring well with plenty of drive displayed in a nice easy movement.
2nd - Marley & Libbey’s Bellili’s D’amore De Loin Another seven month old black and white dog, different type than first place. Bold black spotting. Pleasing head and good reach of neck. He carries a correct top line both standing and on the move. He is a dog with good bend of stifle and overall a very balanced dog that covered the ground well today. All round a well constructed dog who I think with more maturity promises to take top honours when he will have his day.

He has a masculine head and strong lay of neck flowing into good shoulder and plenty of front with deep fore chest. Good top line standing and on the move slightly shorter in loin than winner. A well schooled dog that moved around the ring at a steady pace being at one with his handler. Would have liked a little more of him which may come with time.
2nd - Littler’s Dalmark The Wizard Of Oz Liver and white dog being smaller in type that has a pleasing head and expression, nice reach of neck, level top line, good length of loin and bend of stifle. Good head and neck into good shoulder and well developed front with excellent deep chest. He carries his top line well both standing and on the move. 1st - Frandsen’s INT/DK/SE/NO/NORD CH Skvaa Luxury Item Definitely a luxury item, this is a lovely striking quality liver and white boy that caught my eye straight away. There is much to like about this dog who has is good masculine dog without any coarseness or being overdone in any way. The overall quality of this dog starts with a handsome head having good expression and strong pigmentation. There is good reach and length of neck followed by a well angulated lay of shoulder. His overall construction offers a well developed front with deep chest and good spring of rib. A dog of correct length of back and well coupled loin. A dog with good rear angulations and a well developed second thigh He has a correct top line standing and on the move leading to correct tail set. I had no disappointment when he moved as his movement was with purpose having a good reach and drive yet still remaining balanced. He was at one with handler and did not put a foot wrong. He is such a well constructed balanced dog, which is in hard, fit condition. He challenged well for Best of Breed and it could have gone either way, but unfortunately there can only be one that takes top honours - a very hard final decision to make. Overall though I was pleased with my choice in awarding him a well deserved DCC.

Limit Bitch
– 10 (2)

1st - Emms Dallydyl Love In Idleness This is the most striking black bitch who is compact, strong and in overall excellent condition. Her condition can be seen without having to put your hands on her, yet she maintains her femininity. This is a bitch with the deepest of pigment. She has a nice feminine head with a lovely expression. A bitch that has a good length of neck into excellent lay of shoulder and well sprung rib leading to a strong loin. Well developed quarters and second thigh with a good turn of stifle. On the stand this bitch stands four square and is rock solid and she didn’t disappoint on the move. I have judged this girl before at a show indoors where her movement was great but with the extra space outside she really excelled and excited. A real powerhouse that really motored around the ring covering the ground with plenty of reach and drive with ease which could not be ignored. She just never stopped showing and looked like she could go all day. I could not deny her a well deserved BCC and BOB who was latterly shortlisted in the group.
2nd - Finlay’s Dvojica Black Swan At Dalfin SHCM This bitch is different in type to first place being slightly larger. It was so unfortunate that she met up with the winner of this class, but one cannot take it away from her she is a lovely black bitch which there is a lot to like. Another bitch with deepest of pigment which decorated a lovely head with great expression. She has a good reach of neck and well laid shoulder with a good front. A bitch with a deep chest, good length of loin into correct tail set and bend of stifle.
