BUBA 2017 Judged by Mrs Gail Levy
BUBA 2nd December 2017

DALMATIANS

I would like to thank the BUBA committee for inviting me to judge at this show and for their hospitality. Also thanks to my stewards Kathy and Leopold and my gratitude to those who brought their dogs under me and for the sporting way they accepted my decisions. I have not shown or been around the ring for some time and most of the dogs were new to me. I was looking for a dog which of course met the breed standard and as a carriage dog had the stamina and endurance, but I also require elegance in a bitch and to be of correct size, have feminine head and expression and it being obvious without examination the sex of the dog. Some bitches are oversize and too masculine and this will explain some of my placings. All dogs were of very good temperament although some were dirty, a wipe with a damp cloth would have helped before entering the ring.

DOGS.

MP
(3) Difficult class to judge as all puppies very young and all over the place but am sure as they mature they all have potential to do well. The placings today were based on maturity and could change on another occasion.

1 Millington Capearlla Pure Diamonds. Best mover . Dense black spotting on white coat, well balanced, pleasing expression.
2 Norgrove Sassydals Red Amour. Larger dog heavily spotted, well off for bone and in good condition.
3 Quayles’s Milbelle Kicking Horse at Cubalibre.

1 Christies’s Laguna Dios Free Falcon by Sophtspot. Handsome black spotted dog. Very good condition and his handler allows him to move freely with good length of stride. Construction balanced and sound. Well off for bone and he should have a promising future. BP
2 Thorne’s Spotiray Billy Elliot of Castletop
. Another promising puppy. Well off for bone, dense black spots, lacked the maturity of the winner of this class but everything in proportion. Good top line and tail set.
3 Millington’s Capearlla Pure Diamonds

1 Healey’s Doshaburi the Cloud Dragon at Hebemor. Super liver dog who moved out really well with driving action. Lovely outline with correct tail set and topline and was one of the best movers of the day, just lacked maturity to go further. Not a flashy dog but correct conformation, good head and neck into back. Well sprung ribs.
2 Hopkin’s Rapanooey Red Rose. Not as balanced as winner on the move, lovely head, dark eye, good bone well defined withers and deep chest. Pleasing expression. Very nice dog.
3 Millington’s Gloriandus Sagaro of Capearlla (Imp Rus).

1Hajee & Tidcombe’s Castletop Summer Breeze . 6 months old beautifully spotted black bitch who showed well for such a young puppy. Lovely outline, everything in proportion and the size I like for bitches. Moved well for her age.
2 Hobbs & Whiting’s Rapanooey Rascalllion. Also very promising liver bitch with correct angulation and balance. Just a little unsteady on the move which would expect from her age.
3. Wrights’s Millbelle Fernie.

1Croft’s Kalokairie’s Barberella from Koroyza. Beautiful liver bitch who took my eye as soon as she came into the ring. The correct size for a bitch, well balanced, good angulation and moved round the ring with drive and elegance keeping topline and correct tailset. Well defined withers, well sprung ribs, refined head with arched neck light and tapering into the body. I am sure she will have a very successful show career which I shall follow with interest.
