SKC 2022 Judged by Mrs S Yates
THE SCOTTISH KENNEL CLUB 1st & 2nd OCTOBER 2022

I would like to thank the Scottish Kennel Club for giving me the opportunity to judge my first CC Show in the UK. It was an honour to be allowed to go over the largest entry of the day. A big thank you, goes the exhibitors, who have allowed me to go over their dogs and to my Steward, who has kept the ring organised

The Dalmatian is a long distance, trotting breed, with the correct format and balance of utmost importance. Some of the exhibits where too short in body, some displayed a longer lower thigh. This results in the hock (when perpendicular) being placed considerably further behind a line dropped behind the pelvis than would be ideal. These dogs can appear showy but are not of correct format for the breed.

It was disappointing to see some exhibits, who where in poor coat condition, with clear discolouration. Some could have placed much better.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was delighted with the fact that three of my main winners either won, or placed in their respective groups.

Class 1276 MPD (2 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3103 CHANCE DODDS, Misses H G & P C Dotlun Red Devil He is still very much a baby, which is to be expected at this age. Overall, he is totally balanced and of correct format with tight skin and clean spotting over the correct amount of muscle for his age. He is of correct breed type and was able to display the typical travelling trot. Happy go lucky personality.
2nd: 3167 WHINCUP, Mrs Donna Louise & WHINCUP, Mr Kevin Tamilanda Instant Envy The opposite end of the age spectrum to 1. A dog with excellent pigment, plenty of bone and substance. He has a breed typical outline standing. Would just prefer him a little tighter on the move. He was very comfortable in the ring, displaying his friendly temperament.

1st: 3171 WILKINS, Ms Kelli Gloriandus Petersburg at Salvadorada (Imp Rus) A strong, muscular Junior with a shorter muzzle and rounder cheeks than preferred. Lovely, dark eyes soften his expression. He is of overall correct balance and in firm body condition. He was very happy being gone over and displayed the breed typical temperament.
2nd: 3143 PAGE, Miss C & PAGE, Mr I & PAGE, Mrs K & HOWELL, OLILOU HEAVENLY HAMILTON by Winflash Youngster of correct format with a better head than 1 and more breed typical movement. Today he was not as comfortable being gone over in the very noisy show setting.

Class 1279 PGD
(8 Entries) Abs: 0
1st: 3117 GARDNER, Dr & Mrs W J E & J M Wrendragge Stone The Crows The first thing I noticed about this boy, was his breed typical head with no exaggeration but a muzzle of correct lengths and strengths, fully in proportion with his upper head. He has a long neck, sloping into his back with a well-defined wither, clearly showing the correct shoulder placement. He has a big side gait which is balanced front and back for reach and drive, even though his rear should be less angled, providing more overall strength behind. His many excellent features together with a confident and showy attitude earned him the RCC today.
2nd: 3176 WRIGHT, Miss JENNY Millbelle Crazy Horse JW Youngster of overall excellent proportions and with a very pleasing head and expression. He could be a little longer in upper arm but has a fabulous topline, ending in an excellent croup and tail set. His backend is well muscled and correctly balanced. Another boy with a huge side gait, which I would love to see at a slower pace.
3rd: 3120 HANDYSIDE, Miss Selina & SAMPSON, Dr Elizabeth Dalstorm Future Formula

Class 1280 LD
(8 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: 3109 PHILIP, DUNNACHIE, Mrs L , Mr M L ,M DvojicaEnrique Sound, balanced and of overall excellent proportions. View him from all sides and angles and you will see nothing but straight legs and feet. He has a huge side gait that is correct coming and going, a tight topline of correct lengths, correct croup, tail setting and carriage on the move. His attitude is all show and his tail never stopped going all day long. His attributes not only earned him the Dog CC but also Best of Breed and a Utility Group 1. The fact that this was his third CC at under two years of age, confirms that his quality is easy to spot.
2nd: 3141 NORGROVE, Ms S A Sassydals Flugel Horn Another one of perfect proportion and substance for his breed. Correct head, with a lovely long neck, sloping into a well-defined wither and a strong topline. Correct croup and tail overall balanced angles and correct movement. Today he was not as open and confident as I would have wished for.

1st: 3142 PAGE, Miss C & PAGE, Mr I & PAGE, Mrs K & HOWELL, BLEIZE DE MONTJUIC AT WINFLASH (IMP USA) Another one that I admire for his overall balance and correct breed type with proportions that fit into any Standard across the globe. Beautiful head with friendly expression, correct topline, croup, tailset and carriage. He does not place a foot wrong on the move and is very comfortable in the show ring. The only thing that stopped him from being in the cards today was his coat condition.
2nd: 3104 CHRISTIE, Mrs J Ch SOPHTSPOT GOLD DUST JW An overall very pleasing dog with a breed typical head, lovely long neck and a wither that is well defined, sloping into a back, that I would prefer to be longer for his breed. His excellent muscle tone, had him powering around the ring. Sadly, not in clean coat condition.
