Richmond 2017 Judged by Naomi Forrest
Sunday 11 September 2017

Firstly, thank you to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge. I thoroughly enjoyed my day. My thanks go also to my stewards whose efficiency and organisational skills were second to none. Lastly, thank you all for bringing your Dalmatians under me. The cold, damp conditions and the noise from the adjacent ring seemed to unsettle some of the dogs today, but in the main I was met with happy, outgoing Dalmatians. It has been five years since I judged both sexes and I was pleased to find some top quality dogs and bitches, although there is definitely room for improvement in fronts and tail carriage and a number of the dogs in particular, I felt, were overlong.

VD (1,0)

1 Williams’ Phadante Brightonrock Handsome 9-year old L/W dog presented in lovely condition. Stood alone today, but thoroughly deserved his placing. Masculine but elegant typical head and good reach of neck. Well laid shoulders, level topline and well muscled rear quarters.

His good front, well laid shoulders, level topline, well angulated rear and good tailset all made a pleasing picture when standing and his sound movement won him this class and the RCC

Strong in all departments, with appealing head and good decoration of correct liver colour, lovely reach of neck, well bodied, good front and rear angulation, and correct tailset. Covered the ground well and closely considered for the RCC. Just did not have his usual sparkle today.

Spoilt for choice in this class, as this is another young bitch of depth and quality. 14-month old B/W with beautiful decoration, most attractive head and appealing expression, good depth of chest, level topline, well angulated hindquarters and good tailset. Not quite as strong in front as 1, but handled to advantage and used the ring well to show free and rhythmic movement.

1 Cuthbertsons’ Ellemstra Little Mix With Kalsidoni Well made balanced B/W bitch with distinctive bold markings. Feminine head and good dark eye. A little unsettled when being gone over today, but won this class on her overall conformation and sound movement as she flowed round the ring.

1 David & Saunders’ Dalticino Interlagos from Dallydyl JW Sh.CM Just could not take my eyes off this beautiful L/W bitch from the moment she entered the ring. Fits the breed standard so well and has such quality and depth that she simply could not be overlooked. Presented in superb condition. Attractive, even markings of rich liver colour. Loved her feminine head, elegant neck, well set shoulders, well sprung ribs, well muscled and well defined hindquarters. Did not put a foot wrong on the move either, combining smooth, free movement with powerful reach and drive. Absolutely thrilled to be able to award her that all-important 3rd CC; and, in the challenge, she pulled out all the stops to take BOB
2 Wilkinson's Gwynmor High Five to Hunacres JW (Imp)
Top quality, happy, outgoing B/W bitch of good substance and symmetry. Lovely tight pure white coat with well distributed even spotting. Feminine head, good dark eye, long tapering neck.
