Dalmatians
My first time awarding CCs in this highly competitive breed & I was certainly not disappointed with the quality present on the day. Limit Dog & both Open classes were particularly strong & gave me lots to think about. From today’s entry my impression is that the breed generally has excellent forequarters whereas rears seem more challenging with a number in need of more developed second thighs. There were quite a few with shorter than desired tails & tails also seem to present a problem to breeders with regard to both set & carriage.

1 Green & Sears’ Boschendal Simply Red at Judally, balanced liver who was the clear winner here for me. Strong neck of good length, firm level topline, rib developing nicely, good depth of brisket, strong loin & good tail for both set & carriage. Well proportioned head, good eye & ears set on correctly. Well defined spotting with clear white ground colour. Moving well in profile, covering the ground, just a tad closer behind than desired;
2 Carter’s Tyrodal Genesis, liver of completely different type to the winner. He scored for size & balance, with nice length of neck, level topline & strong loin. Good bone. Nicely proportioned head with good eye colour. Good layback of shoulder & standing nice & straight in front. Sound clean action with good length of stride. Tail carried slightly higher than preferred. Ground colour not as clear as winner & spotting not as defined;
3 Perry’s Tyrodal Evolved.

Nicely arched neck of good length, level topline & excellent tail for both set & carriage. Well defined spots on a pure white ground colour. Moving true & with purpose. BPD;
2 Baker’s Buffrey Incognito by Dalleaf, another very nice black & close up to the winner. Undoubtedly male yet retaining elegance. Strong neck of good length, well defined withers, level topline, good depth of brisket & nice strong loin. Well constructed with well laid shoulders, elbows held close to the body, straight well boned forelegs, good feet & well muscled hindquarters of correct angulation. Excellent spotting on a pure white ground colour. Nicely proportioned head with dark eyes & ears framing face. Moving cleanly all through but felt the winner just had the edge in profile action;

1 Richardson’s Mapplewell Dynamite, this liver boy headed what I felt was a rather disappointing class & he scored here on side gait & carriage. He presented a pleasing outline with a decent length of neck, firm level topline, good depth of brisket & correct set of tail which he carries well. Nicely broken ears of correct set but a tad plainer in head than I prefer. Good layback of shoulder, straight well boned forelegs & good feet. Well handled;
2 Donnelly’s Tamilanda Berry Ice Lilly, black of completely different type to the winner. For a male I would have liked a little more of him all through. Well proportioned head with nicely broken ears of correct set. Strong neck of good length. Well defined spotting on a pure white background. Front extension could not match that of winner;
3 Pace’s Big Addo.
